Last year in Florida at a business event with two of my team mates – Maggie and Mia – we decided that we needed to create a space for the Wunderkin Co. mission that was larger than handmade bows. Now, almost a year later, Wunderkindred is here.

Shortly after I started Wunderkin Co.,(originally Free Babes Handmade), I started an entrepreneurship blog called “I’m Like Brave.” After having my kiddos, and leaving a previous job I didn’t love (I owned a carpet cleaning business with my husband),  I was having a hard time finding myself. Soon enough this tiny blog was giving me the confidence and inspiration to pursue Wunderkin head on. The “I’m Like Brave” blog has since been turned into a YouTube series where I interview entrepreneurs who are creating a lifestyle and/or business that stems from a life they love. You can watch new episodes of this series in the “Entrepreneurship” category of our new blog.

I took a leap to start a handmade children’s bow company, and the journey was a blend of rediscovering my passions, figuring out how I could blend my talents with them to create a livelihood, and meshing my motherhood priorities and heart with the brand behind Wunderkin: raising adventurous and confident girls.  This journey of entrepreneurship, motherhood and creating a life that I love has been like a roller-coaster.  There are mountain-top experiences, and there are valleys, but one that is consistent? Living full-out and fearlessly is always the way to go.

Over the past couple of years, the mommy community that has developed around not only a “like” of bows but a “love” of raising adventurous kiddos has been so beautiful.  Because of these women we wanted to create a platform for the ethos of Wunderkin Co., to live out without being limited to moms with little girls that wear bows.

Here’s to all the mamas in our “Wunderkin Family Chat + Community” that inspired us to start Wunderkindred. Thank you.

I hope each article we present inspires you to be brave in your own life, as a parent.  We are all in this together, and I’ll leave you with this quote:

“Don’t ask what the world needs.  Ask what makes you come alive and go do that, because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” – Howard Thurman.

Thank you for following along with our Wunderkin journey, and welcome to the next phase!

Be Brave,

Hillary
